EDPoW Annual Workshop

EDPoW Annual Workshop has been held on 26 March 2012. The participants looked  satisfied after the workshop finished and we were lucky to get the opportunity to interview some partisipants, they are Monica ’08, Uswa ’09, Indah ’10 and Edo ’11. See what the partisipants say about the EDPoW Annual Workshop.

 Hi guys, what does make you interested to join this workshop?

Monica : I entered academic writing class, and now i’m writing about proposal writing so with this workshop i hope i can have an idea to do my proposal writing.

Uswa   : I join this workshop because my friend invited me.

Indah   : Actually, I have wait for a year to join in edpow workshop and this next semester I am going to take academic writing so I think it would be a good chance for me to know what academic writing is.

Edo      : I want to know about creative writing.

Tell us your impression about this workshop

Monica : I’m taken that academic writing can be merged with creative writing.

Uswa   : From this workshop i can understand more about what writing is and i’ve just know that academic writing can be mix with creative writing.

Indah   : I get some important tips to 'face' academic writing.

Edo      : I’m confused and i still don’t understand maybe because i haven’t taken the class.

And what do you think to make the next annual workshop better?

Monica : It should be better if there is question and answer session after session one finished and after session two finished.

Uswa   : hopefully for the next workshop the topic is more tumultous.

Indah   :The next workshop involves a games related to the theme.

Edo      : It should be question and answer session.

An Important Decision

In life, we certainly ever make decisions about love, education, career etc. If we want to make an important one we need to discussion and ask opinion about thing that we want to decide with parents, friends and people who old hand. They will give benefit for us to make a right decisions but we have to remember that it’s our life and in the end it’s up to us to live with own choices. Looking for the facts are also needed to make an important decision, for example we want to find a job which suit our fancy, we can find the facts about it on the internet, library or other resources. Furthermore, notice about advantages and disadvantages and write down it so that we can see which decisions that better we choose. Notice about advantages and disadvantages also help us to avoid a wrong decision. Don’t forget to pray to God in order that we will be blessed. Occasionally, we make a wrong decision, don’t worry about that. We learn from experience, reevaluate your choice and make better choice for yourself to refine it. No regret and never give up.

Do you know guys that EDRT will have a trial at the end of this semester? What is EDRT’s Trial?

EDRT’s Trial is the result of EDRT’s members rehearsal in a semester which is usually done in front of F building. So, it’s kind like the performance of EDRT itself, but it named as ‘Trial’. The purpose is to show that ED has an activity called EDRT that is about mini drama but use the script. Furthermore, it’s also a way to promote EDRT.

“We are planning to have it in every end of semesters. If everything is going on well, we are doing the first trial of this period at the end of this semester, but if not, we’ll move it to the beginning of the even semester.” said Dian, coordinator of EDRT.

What’s about the preparation?

Dian said that they indeed need a lot of preparation. The first one is of course finding the cast. Then, they should do some rehearsals before the D-day. And some others (crews) should prepare the properties, costumes, posters, and other kinds like that. In addition, they also have problems that usually come during the preparation. First, somehow it is difficult to find suitable cast for boys, since EDRT has lack of boys but they finally got three boys now. The other problems are time management which somehow makes the Trial itself to be delayed and during the performance, up till now, the biggest problem is rain, because their voice will be hard to be heard if it's raining.

How do they handle nervousness when performing?

“I don't think that there's no one who has no nervous. So, what I can say is that, believe in yourself. When you've believed your own self, you'll be sure that you're going to be okay while doing the performance. And usually, before doing the trial, we (the cast and crews) do pray first.” explained Dian.

Moreover, this Trial will be different with the last Trial. It’s because the EDRT’s members are planning to perform two different stories. Usually they only perform a story, but from now, they’re going to make it double, so that you will be more satisfied.
